the latest addition to their Soul-o
Series amplifier line, the Soul-o
Single, an amp
designed for the studio and live
gigs that mic-up the amp.
The Soul-o Single is a true single
ended Class A amp that uses just a
single power tube...but you can use
almost any power tube you like from a 6L6 to a
6550 or even a EL84 with Groove Tubes' 928 socket adapter.
The power ranges from 7 to 15 watts, and the sonic signature also
changes to reflect the power tube you choose...and you change tubes in seconds
without any adjustments.
The Single's two preamp stages can also use a range of various preamps tubes
such as 12AX7, 12AT7, 12AY7 and 5751 for example, all of which modify the
Single's tonal signature and gain.
Think of new Single as a little "tube sampler" amp that offers up a rainbow of tube tones just by changing the tubes. It also has a
parallel FX loop with mix control, a "pull" Gain Boost with optional
footswitch, a special hand built multiple secondary output transformer and
impedance selector that chooses between 4-8-16 Ohms...any of which offer even
more tone and gain options and are safe to use regardless of the speaker
impedance connected. Of coarse the Single has a full set of gain and tone
controls that allows the player to set the amp to range anywhere from fat & clean
to crunch & shred.
The Single's welded steel chassis is chrome plated for durability. Both the combo
and amp top cabinets are made of special lightweight solid core Alder plywood and
covered in Black Tolex with Tan grills. The Single's combo cab has a specially
designed slanted baffle board that holds a Jensen PR10 Alnico 10" speaker. The
MSRP for the Single 10" combo package is $999, and $899 for the Single top
package. The optional Gain Boost footswitch with a 20' cable is $59.
