Dime Busts Out the Southern Cross
December 31, 2002
Dimebag Darrell's tone has been the discussion topic of the day for years now.
His tone, his look, his style is a major influence in the world of Hard Rock
music. And now Washburn Guitars and Dime bring news to the legions of
Metal fans that that the Southern Cross Limited Edition Guitar
is now available. There will be 100 of these guitars made
available to the public with the first going to you know who, himself.
The Southern
Cross is a replica of the one that Dime used on the monumental Black Sabbath
Tour, which tore down more than one house in the year that the monsters of
metal destroyed the world.
Washburn starts with the traditional Dime 3 body style. The guitar body is built
of the finest Brazilian Mahogany with an AAA Curly Maple top. The pieces are
hand selected to be able to be finished in a clear lacquer, revealing the
natural beauty of the woods. Inlaid in the lower treble bout is a Madagascar
Ebony Maltese Cross inlaid with triangles of Paua Abalone on each tip. It matches
the ebony fingerboard, which is inlaid with Maltese Cross abalone inlays.
The neck shape is that soft fluid "V". The Brazilian
mahogany is the finest available and the Grover 18 to 1 tuners are a dream to
use. It is complete with Floyd Rose bridge and locking nut for dive-bombing runs
that don't mess with your intonation.
A Southern Cross pendant will come
with every guitar. It is a smaller version of the same Maltese Cross, which is
inlaid in the body using the same materials. It comes with a 30" heavy
antique silver chain and is boxed in black velvet. Every Limited Edition guitar
will come in its own special case with a unique certificate of authenticity
signed by Dime.
