Rhino's YJM50 could be the most precise signature model amp ever developed.
In order to design this amp, Yngwie favorite 30 year old British head and 25 year old Overdrive pedal were used for reference in designing the circuitry.
Is is not enough to simply base an amp on some old schematics or similiar approach as a 30 year old amp will have been repaired and serviced several times in it's life leaving it today in a form perhaps different than it's original state.
The "Black Star" is essentially a clone of Yngwie's entire rig and amp signal path conveniently enclosed in a single head.
Rhino designed this amplifier with the assistance of Mike Spitzer.
Mike is a long time friend of Yngwie's, worked as Yngwie's manager in the past and also assisted DOD with the design for the new YJM308 "Yngwie Malmsteen" Preamp/Overdrive Pedal.
Mike also serves as a tone guru for players looking to get a good guitar sound.
In essence, the buyer of the YJM50 is getting in one package...
- A remake of a classic 30 year old non-Master volume style British amp.
- A remake of Yngwie's personal favorite overdrive pedal.
- An inline Noise Suppression/gate between the internal Overdirve circuit and the amp's preamp tube input stage.
- A power attenuator located AFTER the power stage so that the sound of an all tube amp can be obtained at low volumes This is not equivelant to the preamp gain/master volume type circuits which starve the power tubes. This POWERATOR allows the power amp tubes and transformer to run "full out" but have the output volume from Speaker Out attenuated to the desired volume.
