Maven Peal Sag Circuit More Affordable with Zeeta Silver Models
July 10, 2002
Maven Peal Instruments, Inc. has introduced a new pricing structure for the Zeeta amplifier designed to make Sag Circuit technology affordable. The new pricing involves a two level Gold and Silver platform that brings the Zeeta into the same price range as other boutique amplifiers.
By taking advantage of more cost effective materials and components, Maven Peal is able to offer the Zeeta Silver line at retail prices of up to 28% lower than the cost of the Gold line. The Silver line includes apple-ply birch (stronger than Baltic birch) cabinets and high quality components, while the Gold line still offers heirloom furniture quality finger-jointed solid pine cabinets and the finest audiophile European components available.
According to Maven Peal President David Zimmerman, "I have always been adamant about putting the Sag Circuit on the highest quality amplifier imaginable, but I also can't ignore that Zeeta Golds are a bit overbuilt for most players. Although Zeeta Silvers are not made with heirloom quality cabinets, Silvers are made with the same high quality components used by other boutique manufacturers, and the same commitment to excellence we put into Zeeta Golds. The tone is absolutely amazing and the Sag Circuit makes the Silver line beyond compare."
Starting at $2,250 for a Zeeta 15 head, the Silver line of 15, 30 and 50 watt models offer Maven Peal's optional signature tiger maple cabinets along with your choice of tubes and speakers for all for under $3,000.
The Maven Peal Sag Circuit gives guitarists control over power amp distortion with the turn of a knob. Lower amounts of sag give (as low as 0%-lower than any other amp ever made) the amp a harder feel and brighter sound, while higher amounts (up to 25%-higher than any other amp ever made) fatten up the sound and give you unprecedented response to your touch.
Wattage control also allows guitarists to adjust the number of watts the amp is producing. Players can overdrive the power amp at volume levels as low as 1/2 watt. Wattage control is not a Master Volume control or dummy load-but actual control over the power amp.
Additional Sag Circuit benefits include the complete elimination of power supply hum (essential for recording sessions and just plain easier on the ears), and complete freedom from varying wall voltages.
