Introduced back January of 2002, the 'Absolute Beginners' series of instructional DVDs featuring photos and text supported by extensive video and audio, is now being repackaged for wider distribution. Previously sold only via music instrument retailers, now the series now comes in the same size and shape as a standard DVD boxand has been released to general music merchandise stores. The Absolute Beginners series currently includes titles for Guitar, Bass Guitar, Drums, and Keyboards.
A look-and-learn course, 'Absolute Beginners' introduces meaningful instruction clearly, with concepts explained via video instruction and photos in addition to text. Practical advice covers everything, from musical notation and songs to tips on setting up, playing technique, tuning, and maintenance.
In each lesson, links to the video and audio on the DVD are clearly noted, allowing readers to quickly learn how their lessons should look and sound. Full-length accompaniment tracks are also included for practicing, in both demonstrative and play along versions. Throughout, the instruction provides context with each lesson, with frequent photos and references to popular musicians, and recommendations of albums for further study. Created from scratch for this series, the DVD footage is of high quality, and not simply conversions of previously available, lower-resolution VHS footage.
