Post Musical Instruments has announced a new cross-platform, plug-in virtual instrument version of their Bösendorfer 290 grand piano, capturing the instruments in 24-bit quality.
The Bösendorfer 290 offers up to 16 velocity layers, true release samples, true repedalling, and two different microphone positions (close and ambient) for ultimate ambience control.
This plug-in version comes with 28 programs (9 dry programs, 9 wet programs (with and without true real-time repedalling), 3 Dry & Wet layered programs and several FX variations.
The Bösendorfer 290 is completely standalone. The plug-in is based on Native Instruments' Kontakt audio engine complete with support for Direct-from-disk streaming so you do not have to be limited by the amount of available RAM. No sampler is required, however if you happen to own Kontakt 1.3 or higher, you can load the sound library for more creative flexibility.
Many sound shaping tools are built in to the interface. Multi-mode filters, envelopes, and LFOs give a wealth of creative possibilities. Integrated high-quality reverb, chorus, and delay effects are also provided.
System Requirements:
3 GB Free Hard Disc Space, DVD Drive
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (for Native Instruments software)
- Windows XP/ME/98, Pentium III/Athlon 500 Mhz, 256 MB RAM
- Mac OS 9.2 or higher, G3 500 Mhz, 256 MB RAM
RECOMMENDED SYSTEM (for Native Instruments software)
- Windows XP, P III/Athlon 700 MHz, 512 MB RAM
- Mac OS 9.2 or higher, G4 733, 512 MB RAM
Post Musical Instruments recommends using a fast processor and up to 1.5 Gbs of free RAM to optimize the performance of this sound module. This will enable you to run the piano without disk-streaming. When disk-streaming is used, 512 MB is sufficient.
Plug-In Formats:
- WIN: VST2.0, DXi2, ASIO, MME, Direct Sound, RTAS
- MAC: VST2.0, ASIO, Soundmanager, OMS, Audio Units, Core Audio, RTAS
(RTAS support and OS X compatibility including support for Audio Units and Core Audio will be available as a downloadable update later.)
The Bösendorfer 290 virtual instrument will begin shipping on October 15th.
