September 3, 2003 Dean has introduced no less than 6 new
basses for Summer 2003, reintroducing some set-neck models, adding three new models to the Edge series, and a very different acoustic jazz box bass.
First on the list are the set-neck versions of the Cadillac and Z basses. Dean has brought these back along with modern
upgrades in electronics and hardware. The Cadillac offers a P/J pickup configuration with 2-band EQ while the Z has dual EMG HZ pickups with 2-band active EQ.
Dean's line of Edge basses
welcomed with the Edge Pro 5, a neck-thru bass with EMG HZ
pickups, a 3-band active EQ and a monolithic bridge system, the Edge
Hammer with its all mahogany construction and high-output pickups, and the
Playmate E09L left-handed bass.
The
new Dean Stylist Bass is something different - an F-hole
acoustic jazz box body, floating Tune-O-Matic bridge, trapeze tailpiece and offset mother of pearl fret markers .
