The Evolver synthesizer from Dave Smith Instruments has been updated to version 2.0 with a number of new features, including a new bank of 128 programs for a total of 512 programs, each with its own sequence.
"Most of the features were requested by our customers," says Dave Smith. "We added even more modulation destinations (there are now 75), tap tempo, longer envelope rates, separate left and right channel filter control, and a number of other improvements."
The update is 100% backwards-compatible, so all current Evolver customers can easily update their synths at no cost. "Just go to our website for the download, which allows you to update the internal Evolver operating system with MIDI SysEx files -- no hardware changes are necessary."
Also available now is a new stand-alone Evolver editor for the PC. The editor allows a user to see all 128 Evolver program parameters in one concise screen, a great way to analyze complex factory programs.
Other screens allow wavetable editing for Evolver's Prophet-VS style digital oscillators, bank views, main parameter views, two sequencer views for Evolver's 16 x 4 step sequencer, and a program genetics screen with a random program generator, mutate, and morph capabilities.
