New FM Sound Library for Kurzweil K2k-Series January 16, 2003
DLN Sound presents three FM
synthesis based sound sets for the Kurzweil K2xx-series instruments. The sounds employ DLN Sound's KFM
synthesis technology, which takes FM synthesis into another realm,
extending and combining it with the other synthesis and processing
capabilities of the Kurzweil synthesizer engine.
The sound sets also offer
several additive synthesis sounds: renditions of acoustic
instrument sounds, which have been constructed by analysing and
reassembling the original instruments' frequency spectra.
The series consists of:
- The KFM Collection ($49.95) - Designed for the K2600. It contains 89 sounds, and takes full advantage of the powerful KDFX effects of the K2600.
- The KFM Selection FX ($32.95) - For the K2500, equipped with the KDFX option. It comprises 67 selected sounds from the KFM Collection, and employs the KDFX effects option to the fullest.
- The KFM Selection SE ($24.95) - For standard K2500 and K2000. It contains the same 67 sounds as the KFM Selection FX, and has been optimized for the effects section of the K2500 and K2000.
All three sets contain classic and contemporary sounds,
comprising electric pianos, bass, percussion sounds, pads and strings,
synthetic sounds, and so on. The sets suit a variety of musical styles:
they include recreations of classic Yamaha DX7 sounds, recalling
atmospheres of the '80s and '90s, and new, previously unheard electronic
timbres for contemporary productions.
Timbre and effects of every sound can be extensively controlled in
real-time via the numerous physical controllers of the K2xxx: sliders,
wheels, switches, after touch, breath controller. A
Musician's Guide describe the sounds and their assigned controllers in
detail. No sample memory or hardware options are required to use
the sets. The entire sets load in seconds or less, and stays in the
K2xxx's memory even while power is switched off.
