Digidesign Releases Pro Tools 6.0.1 with Mac OS 9/X UpdatesApple Core Audio Support and New MIDI I/O Driver! April 4, 2003
Digidesign announced the availability for Pro Tools 6.0.1, a free update for owners of Pro Tools 6.0, as a Web download at www.digidesign.com and through local dealers as an Updater CD.
Pro Tools 6.0 software for Mac OS X added a powerful set of new features and improvements for both TDM and LE systems. Now Digidesign has released three products to make Pro Tools systems even more powerful, reliable and flexible:
- Pro Tools 6.0.1 software fixes some key issues with Pro Tools 6.0.
- The new Digidesign Core Audio driver allows customers to use Digidesign hardware for multi-channel audio input and output with third-party applications that support Apple's Core Audio standard.
- A new Digidesign MIDI I/O driver is available for users of the Digidesign MIDI I/O.
Pro Tools 6.0.1 Software Update (Mac OS X)
"We recommend that all users of Pro Tools 6.0 update to 6.0.1 to enjoy the best possible performance," states Wendy Abowd, Digidesign's Director of Pro Tools Product Line. "Pro Tools 6.0.1 provides several dozen fixes for problems that may have been experienced with Pro Tools 6.0."
Pro Tools 6.0.1 is a free update for Pro Tools 6.0 owners. Users of Pro Tools 5.x versions with v6.0.1-compatible systems can purchase a Pro Tools 6.0.1 LE upgrade for (US) $75 or a TDM upgrade for (US) $195.
Digidesign Core Audio Driver (Mac OS X)
The Digidesign Core Audio driver allows third-party applications supporting the Apple Core Audio standard to utilize their Pro Tools system for audio input and output. Depending on the hardware and application, users can record and playback multiple channels of 24-bit audio up to 96 kHz. This is a free download. (Pro Tools v6.0.1 must be installed for correct Core Audio driver operation
Digidesign MIDI I/O Driver Update (Mac OS X & OS 9)
This free driver update for the Digidesign MIDI I/O resolves a firmware problem and also provides improved general performance. This update should be used by all Digidesign MIDI I/O owners, whether they are using OS 9 or OS X. (Note: OS 9 users who have already downloaded and installed MIDI I/O driver v1.5 do not need this update).
PRO TOOLS 6.0.1 SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
Pro Tools 6.0.1 supports Mac OS X versions 10.2.3 and 10.2.4 only and works on all the platforms supported by Pro Tools 6.0: Pro Tools|HD, Pro Tools|24 MIX, Pro Tools|24, Mbox, Digi 001 and Digi ToolBox (Audiomedia III). Digi 002 will be supported in an upcoming Pro Tools release expected in Q2 2003.
