December 3, 2003The major upgrade to VirSyn's synthesis workstation for Mac and PC is now available, with full upgrade pricing announced and demo versions ready for download.
To simplify the sound creation process and reduce clutter when you don't need all of the available modules, TERA now offers six new "pages". These new pages are specialized for a particular synthesis method: waveshaping, analog, spectrum, formant, FM, and physical modeling.
TERA has also been updated with a number of new features, such as the ability to use custom waveforms for all oscillators, 64-segment syncable envelopes, microtuning capabilities, and combi programs for layered and split sounds. When you're looking to create some new sounds, but need a place to start from, TERA 2.0 offers a "Slot Machine" feature to randomly create sounds which you can then tweak and shape to your tastes.
VirSyn TERA 2.0 will be compatible with both Windows and Mac OS8/ 9/X, running as a standalone application, VST plug-in, AudioUnit (OS X only), and RTAS plug-in. ReWire 2 support has also been added.
The demo version is fully functional except that it cannot save, only contains 128 preset (rather than 1400), and the audio will fade out briefly every 20 seconds.
