November 13, 2003VirSyn has released the first details on the next version of their synthesis workstation for Mac and PC.
To simplify the sound creation process and reduce clutter when you don't need all of the available modules, TERA now offers six new "pages". These new pages are specialized for a particular synthesis method: waveshaping, analog, spectrum, formant, FM, and physical modeling.
TERA has also been updated with a number of new features, such as the ability to use custom waveforms for all oscillators, 64-segment syncable envelopes, microtuning capabilities, and combi programs for layered and split sounds. When you're looking to create some new sounds, but need a place to start from, TERA 2.0 offers a "Slot Machine" feature to randomly create sounds which you can then tweak and shape to your tastes.
VirSyn TERA 2.0 will be compatible with both Windows and Mac OS 9/X, running as a standalone application, VST plug-in, AudioUnit (OS X only), and RTAS plug-in. ReWire 2 support has also been added.
TERA 2.0 is expected to ship on November 24, and is priced at €299. Registered users of TERA 1.1 and 1.2 on CD will be eligible for a free downloadable upgrade, as will all registered users of both CUBE and TERA (any version number).
