Sewell Amplification Announces Texaplex 25
May 5, 2003
After 3 years of development, Sewell Amplification, Inc. announces the first in a new series of British-flavored Wampus Cat Amps, the Texaplex 25. This new amp was designed to capture that legendary '60's British tones without the ear-splitting volume levels formerly required. The Texaplex 25 utilizes EL34 power tubes and a 50 watt output transformer for a tight, focused tone. However, lower plate voltages keeps the output to a very usable 25 gigging watts.
Like the tweed-inspired Wampus Cat Classic, the Texaplex 25 is a no-frills professional amp which only includes the circuitry and components necessary to achieve the desired tones. It is currently available as a 1 x 12 combo or as a head.
Features:
- Hand wired circuitry on eyeletted 1/8" G10 circuit board material.
- Aluminum chassis.
- Volume, treble, bass controls, with bright switch and volume-bypassing footswitch for overdrive.
- 2 x JJs EL34L power tubes, 3 x JJs ECC83 preamp tubes, 1 x WU4GB Weber Copper Cap rectifier.
- 12" Celestion Classic Lead 80 speaker in combo.
- Solid oak feature panels, blonde tolex, wheat/gold grill cloth standard.
- 4, 8, and 16 ohm speaker jacks.
MSRP: $1,699 for the 1 x 12 combo, $1,419 for the head.
