PRESS RELEASE
| WaveLab 4.01 Update Released July 29, 2003
WaveLab 4.01
Steinberg has released WaveLab
4.01, the latest version of the audio editing
and mastering software. WaveLab is Steinberg's fastest editor with VST and DirectX
plug-in support, a wealth of mastering, audio montage and CD
burning features. WaveLab is used at radio stations, mastering
and project studios, and everywhere creative people work with
audio.
The free update extends WaveLab with a number of
new features:
- Scripting support: WaveLab now supports scripting and can be
used to automate audio editing, format and batch processing,
recording and playback. Scripts can be assembled in WaveLab
that can execute specific program functions. This process uses
an API, or Application Programming Interface, which acts as a
"remote control" for WaveLab, enabling it to be fused into
larger audio network systems. WaveLab can now automate entire
working procedures and process large amounts of data -
invaluable capabilities for large studios and facilities.
- AES 31 Support: WaveLab now supports the AES 31 format,
allowing it to import Nuendo 2.0 projects into a new Audio
Montage. WaveLab 4.01 also features export in the AES 31
format. Markers created in Nuendo 2.0 are recognized by
WaveLab 4.01 and, using their names, assigned to CD markers.
- The new Audio Error Detection and Correction tool probes audio
files for errors such as "clicks". These are identified with
WaveLab markers and can be corrected either manually or
automatically.
- Extended format support: WaveLab can now save to all available
formats from any environment.
- MPEG Layer 2 / MUSICAM support: The MUSICAM (MP2) format used
so widely by radio and television broadcasters is now
supported directly within WaveLab. Audio CDs can now be
imported and saved straight away in the MUSICAM format; RIFF
files can now also be created. These have a .wav ending and
are compatible with Broadcast Wave format.
- New Multimedia File Formats: WaveLab now also supports Windows
Media 9 and Ogg Vorbis formats.
- CD Text is now also supported when importing CDs. A CD can now
also be imported in one single step, including all pauses and
index markings. Audio CD image files can now be compared to
one another, allowing burned CDs to be compared directly with
the original image file to find any CD burning errors.
WaveLab 4.01 is a free update for all WaveLab 4.x users and
can be downloaded from the Steinberg FTP server. Download
the update files directly at:
