WaveSurround Pro Plug-In Upgraded with VST Support, MoreMAS, OS X versions planned  February 5, 2003
Wave Arts has released a major upgrade to
WaveSurround Pro, its 3D imaging and spatial enhancement plug-in. The addition of
Mac/PC VST support, full automation and more, brings its architecture up to speed
with that of its siblings, MasterVerb and TrackPlug.
WaveSurround Pro is a spatial enhancer that uses HRTF binaural processing and
sophisticated crosstalk canceling technology to put listeners inside the stereo
mix, making the music surround them, without going through a 5.1 system. Wave
Arts' WaveSurround technology - popular in a Winamp plug-in - has been
re-packaged for the studio as a plug-in for Mac/PC VST/DirectX
compatible audio applications.
Wave Arts has beefed up WaveSurround's built-in reverb module by swapping its
original algorithm with a new one based on their MasterVerb
reverb.
WaveSurround Pro v3.03 includes built-in spectral shaping filters, providing the
user with more control over its frequency and phase responses. The upgrade
supports automation of any of WaveSurround's controls thru compatible DirectX and
VST host applications, and includes full documentation, with an addendum about 3D
audio written by Gardner, who is himself a pioneer in 3D audio technology.
In its continuing effort to support as many plug-in formats as possible, Wave Arts
also formally announced that it will release MAS versions of its full line
of plug-ins this Winter, and for OSX users, Carbon VST and AudioUnits releases are
on target for the Spring.
