Edirol Corporation has announced Mac OS 9 support for the FA-101, 10x10 FireWire Audio Interface. This driver set includes ASIO2.0, OMS, & FreeMIDI support on Apple computers running Mac OS 9. With OS 9 and OS X support, the FA-101 now offers low-latency, high fidelity, multi-channel audio support to essentially all Mac users.
On Mac OS X, the FA-101 uses Apple's Standard FireWire Audio driver offering complete integration into Mac OS X 10.3.4 or later. Apple has recently further refined this driver with the release of Mac OS X 10.3.7.
Edirol's support of Apple's Standard FireWire Audio Driver greatly simplifies the user experience when it comes to installation. Loading drivers is a thing of the past with the FA-101 in OS X. The user simply plugs-in and immediately the device appears.
The FA-101 is a single half-rack 10x10, 24-bit/96kHz audio interface capable of drawing power directly from a 6-pin FireWire port for optimum portability. It can also record up to 6x6 at 24-bit/192kHz. It offers 8x8 analog I/O with two phantom mic preamps, Stereo Optical S/P DIF I/O, MIDI I/O, and 1/4" headphone output with built in direct through mixing capabilities for low latency monitoring. The FA-101 offers an incredible 108 dB S:N on output.
