May 3, 2004discoDSP's latest release is a software sampler for Windows. In addition to the ability to load samples in a variety of formats, HighLife 1.1 offers the ability to "sample" VST instruments. It is a VST host, and by loading a VSTi, you can then sample it. This way, you can have the sounds of the most CPU intensive VST instruments at your disposal without the big hit to your CPU. There's also an editor for tweaking any of the samples.
HighLife 1.1 is 32-voice polyphonic (CPU dependent) and offers several different interpolation modes, including some high-quality settings for non-realtime rendering. Built-in filters and effects provide realtime sound shaping tools.
HighLife 1.1 is available now for 120 Euro (about 150 USD currently).
