Combo DVD/CD-RW Made Standard on Open Labs Products

DVD Burner, Dual-Layer 8.5 GB Disk, Upgrade Now Available, along with $300 rebate on NeKo 64

December 24, 2004

Open Labs announced that it has upgraded all of its products in its NeKo and OMX lines of hybrid Windows XP-based keyboard workstations to include a combo DVD reader/CD-rewritable (CDRW) drive at no extra cost. The upgrade also enables new customers of the NeKo LE, NeKo64, OMX64 LE and OMX64 to create CDs of their music on the same workstation with which they play, record, mix, and master their music.

Open Labs also announced that a dual-layer 8.5 gigabyte (GB) DVD burner upgrade is now available on the NeKo LE, NeKo64, OMX64 LE and OMX64 products. The OMX64 Extreme, introduced in October, 2004 at the Audio Engineering Society (AES) conference in San Francisco, comes standard with the DVD burner.

In addition to this change, customers who purchase any NeKo 64 from an authorized reseller of Open Labs by December 31, 2004 will qualify for a $300 mail in rebate direct from Open Labs, Inc. A list of Open Labs' authorized resellers can be found on the Open Labs web site. This offer is only valid within the United States. All rebate requests must be received by March 1, 2005 to qualify.

The Neko64 combines the capabilities of a keyboard workstation with enterprise-class server technologies and matching control surfaces in one fully integrated-compact package. It is capable of hosting more than 100 plug-in simultaneously; playing more than 500-voice polyphony and recording more than 64 tracks simultaneously at 24 bits and 96 KHz.
