Furman's Latest Power Conditioner Targets Instrument Amps

February 23, 2004

Furman Sound has introduced the PowerFactor Pro musical instrument and amplification power conditioner. Maintenance free Series Mode Protection (SMP) protects equipment from voltage spikes that can severely damage or destroy amplifiers or change digital presets and "Clear Tone" technology lowers the AC line impedance supplied by the wall outlet, while storing in excess of 45 amps of instantaneous reserve energy for peak current demands.

Today's AC power is contaminated. Whether you play in a stadium, bar, or rehearsal space, these venues all have one thing in common; the AC power is supplied from the local power utility. What's worse is the "power factor" supplied from the buildings AC outlet is typically poor, due to increasingly over taxed power lines and raised powerline impedance.

In fact, the quality of AC power has been so poor for so long, most musicians have no idea how great their amplifiers could really sound, according to Furman. When the AC power factor is poor, amplifiers sound muddy because their power supplies can't deliver the required juice when pushed to their design limits.

The PowerFactor Pro's "Clear Tone Technology" continuously delivers over 45 Amps of instantaneous current reserve to your amplifier or instrument thereby assuring it works up to, and beyond, its design specifications. Additionally, "Linear Filtering Technology (LiFT) dramatically lowers AC line noise in the critical audio frequency band.

Furman Sound's pro level over-voltage auto shutdown circuit assures you will never see your prized amplifier go up in flames due to a sustained voltage overload. The Power Factor Pro has a generous 12-Amp R.M.S. capacity, a convenient multi-segment AC voltmeter, a detachable-locking AC cord, and four (4) AC outlets, all contained in a conveniently small, portable, floor-standing package.

The PowerFactor Pro is expected to land in musical instrument and equipment retailers in the United States in Q2 2004, at a US suggested list price of $299.95.
