May 6, 2004
Sheets of Sound for Guitar is a 300 page compendium of melodic and
harmonic technique. This methodology allows the
guitarist to develop the kinds of lines previously unattainable on the
guitar. Horn lines, piano lines, and speed-metal riffs are played with
ease using the techniques espoused in this book.
The book features lines in the style of John Petrucci, Joe Satriani, Eric Johnson,
George Benson, Paul Bollenback, Jonathan Kreisberg, Danny Gatton, Pat
Martino, Brent Mason, Pat Metheny, Wes Montgomery, and others.
The book is divided up into 8 chapters:
- Chapter 1 features linear patterns
- Chapter 2 features pentatonic patterns
- Chapter 3 features arpeggiated patterns
- Chapter 4 features 4th based patterns
- Chapter 5 features 5th based patterns
- Chapter 6 features etudes, hexatonic and chromatic patterns as well as lines in the style of various artists
