eMedia Music has a new value priced line of music instruction software for guitar, bass, piano and keyboard. All titles in the Basics line are only $19.95 MSRP and are designed as a great way for the beginner student to be introduced to playing their instrument.
eMedia Guitar Basics Win/Mac CD-ROM offers 42 step-by-step lessons, teaching the skills and knowledge needed to start playing the world's most popular instrument. Lessons include full-motion video of guitar instructor Kevin Garry, Ph.D. Lessons demonstrate guitar techniques ranging from stringing your guitar to strumming techniques and chords.eMedia Guitar Basics includes an animated fretboard, which displays the fingering for each song and exercise in real-time, and is adjustable in four viewing angles. Multi-track audio gives full band accompaniment on many of the songs. There is a MIDI track option allowing students to practice any song or exercise at whatever tempo they want.

Songs include recorded audio, variable-speed MIDI and MIDI accompaniments. When used with a MIDI keyboard, you can get specific feedback on playing mistakes.
