Eventide Announces Upgrade from Orville to H8000

February 8, 2005

Eventide has announced an upgrade program offering Eventide Orville owners the opportunity to upgrade to the company's new powerhouse platform, the H8000 Ultra-Harmonizer eight-channel effects processor.

"Giving our customers the opportunity to upgrade to our latest platform demonstrates our commitment to our top-level customers," stated Ray Maxwell, Eventide vice president of sales and marketing. "The upgrade is basically remanufacturing their Orville from the inside out into our new eight-channel flagship H8000 Ultra-Harmonizer. The upgrade customer sends in his Orville and gets back an H8000. The H8000 is the cumulation of Eventide's thirty-three years of pushing audio effects to its limits and is significantly more powerful than the Orville, with many new feature enhancements, all for a fraction of the cost of purchasing a new unit."

Orville owners who upgrade may choose an H8000 or an H8000A. The H8000 offers two channels of analog I/O, plus eight channels of AES/EBU, S/PDIF and ADAT digital I/O. Customers needing more analog I/O, may choose the H8000A, which offers four channels of analog I/O, and four channels of AES/EBU, ADAT and S/PDIF digital I/O.

New features of the platform include Monolithic Tandem operation, which allows both DSPs to run together to accommodate large, complex algorithms, and 5.1 algorithms up to 96 kHz. The H8000 offers over 70 5.1 reverb and effects presets, nearly 1500 preset-algorithms in total. With so many effects, the ability to find what you are looking for quickly is imperative, and Eventide delivers. New sorting functionality allows users to find their presets faster and more efficiently than ever before. The H8000 also supports lower cost flash memory for preset storage and subsequent software upgrades.

All Orville to H8000 upgrades are done at the Eventide factory in New Jersey, and include a 90-day parts and labor warranty. To determine which level of upgrade is required, its cost and other pertinent details, current Orville owners should visit the Orville page on Eventide's web site.
