SymNet Express Cobra Series Upgrade Coming April 26, 2005
Symetrix announced an upgrade for its SymNet Express Cobra series of Audio
DSP hardware. Beginning in the third quarter of 2005 all Express Cobra models will be
equipped with the new CS181022 chip from Cirrus Logic, increasing their
capability to 16x16 CobraNet audio channels from the existing 8x8. The
pricing of the upgraded models will not change.
Symetrix Director of Sales, Jim Latimer said, "CobraNet is a robust solution
for digital audio that is very well established in the industry. Increasing
the CobraNet channel count in our Express Cobra series enhances their
utility, and thus their value to designers and installers."
There are four SymNet Express Cobra models differentiated by their Analog
I/O configuration. They are the Express 12x4 Cobra, Express 4x12 Cobra,
Express 8x8 Cobra, and Express 4x4 Cobra. Each device will now include a
16x16 CobraNet license with the hardware.
The entire SymNet Express series, four Cobra and three non-Cobra, represents
the latest generation of hardware developments for the SymNet Audio Matrix
platform. All devices use SHARC DSPs from Analog Devices, are addressable
over IP, have software-selectable line or mic-level inputs, and are
compatible with SymNet Designer software for Windows.
