Spirit
Absolute Zero Monitor July
12, 1996
Sporting eye-catching red drivers, Spirit's Absolute Zero is a compact near-field
monitor that both performs and sounds like a much larger studio monitor system.
Absolute Zero's woofer utilizes a deep 30mm voice-coil and features a carefully
optimized suspension which enables it to produce high levels of low frequency
from its small enclosure. This, in conjunction with a large-diameter port located
on the rear, allows the bass response to remain unrestricted, even at high listening
levels. The monitor's soft-dome tweeter is driven by a 25mm ferrofluid-cooled
voice coil mounted on a specially shaped waveguide. The result is increased power
handling and controlled dispersion of high frequency sounds. The crossover
network is optimized using the latest CAD techniques to take advantage of the
acoustically aligned drivers and high-quality components. The low distortion of
the drivers is never compromised. Features of Absolute Zero: - High-definition
time-coherent design
- Flat on- and off-axis frequency response
- 75 watt
RMS power rating
- Wide yet controlled dispersion
- High-quality crossover
with low-loss components
- Custom-designed drivers
- Long-throw 170mm LF driver
- 25mm soft-dome tweeter on proprietary waveguide
- Vented cabinet with large
port for extended LF response, even at high levels
