Yamaha
MT8XII Multitrack Cassette Recorder July
12, 1996 Yamaha Corporation of America, Audio, Guitar, and Synthesizer Division announces
the release of the Yamaha MT8XII multitrack cassette recorder. "The success of
the original Yamaha MT8X is our incentive to offer a new version with a greater
number of features at the lowest price point in its category," states Peter Chaikin,
product manager, recording products, Professional Audio Products Department. The
MT8XII is intended for songwriters, musicians and users within the production
community who look for the benefits of 8-track recording at an accessible price
point, where convenience and quality of sound are of importance. "The MT8XII is
ideal for users who need the flexibility offered by 8-track systems and desire
operational simplicity and affordability," adds Chaikin. The suggested retail
price of the MT8XII is less than $1,600. The MT8XII brings even more features
that were not available on the popular MT8X recorder - XLR mic inputs, 3-band
EQ on all channels, increase in the number of inputs to a total of 16, and enhanced
sonic performance. Integrating a 16-input mixer and 8-track recorder, the MT8XII
creates a very versatile and portable mixer/recorder combination that is perfect
for a variety of recording applications. The MT8XII offers the dependability of
a three-motor drive system and the convenience of dual speeds in Fast Forward
and Rewind. Auto locate and auto punch-in allow convenient hands-free operation.
dbx(tm) noise reduction ensures clean, quiet recordings and wide dynamic range.
Four inputs incorporate mic preamps with clip indicators. Dual LR connectors with
phantom power allow the use of professional condenser microphones. Stereo OUT
and Monitor OUT and 8 tape output jacks are exclusive to the MT8XII. A hard Permalloy
head is used in both Record and Play, with a Ferrite head for Erase functions.
Tape speed is a fast 9.5 centimeters per second, and Pitch control is +/-12%.
The MT8XII joins the strong Yamaha multitrack line-up which includes the MT50
($479 MSRSP), MT4X ($599 MSRSP), and the new MD4 digital 4-track recorder ($1,200
MSRSP). For more information
