Sony CDP-L3 CD Player

July 11, 1997 Sony Electronics' Professional Audio Group is displaying the CDP-L3 compact disc player. A rack-mountable unit equipped with balanced output terminals, the CDP-L3 offers high-quality functionality and ease of use in several applications.

"Ideal for both music playback and sound reinforcement, the CDP-L3 incorporates a variety of basic functions, including improved Repeat and Pause capabilities," said Courtney Spencer, vice president of professional audio for Sony Electronics' Business and Professional Group. "Using a combination of Auto Pause and A-B repeat, you can have a designated segment played back repeatedly, with a pause between each play."

Other features of the CDP-L3 include Auto Cue, which bypasses the blank space before the start of a song, pausing automatically. The Auto Pause function allows users to pause between the end of one song and the beginning of the next. Playback options include Continue, Program Play and Shuffle.

The CDP-L3 features an XLR-3-32 balanced output terminal that achieves independent preset volumes for each channel, allowing output levels to be finely tuned. A S/PDIF (optical) digital output terminal allows direct digital connection to other recording equipment. Weighing 9 lbs., the CDP-L3 comes with a rack-mount adapter. The CDP-L3 can be mounted on the EIA 19-inch rack (3U size). The CDP-L3 is currently available at a suggested price of $750.
