Telex® is featuring the new VHF and UHF ProStar Series Wireless
Microphone systems at the NAMM Convention held from July 11 to 13 in the Nashville Convention
Center and Arena, Booth 2028. Both systems are aggressively priced, offering MI and professional
audio users superior Telex quality and reliability at cost effective price points.
"We are viewing the two ProStar systems as two completely different classifications of product,"
says Gary Bosiacki, National Sales Manager/Sound Reinforcement Products for Telex. "The
ProStar UHF model comes in at about the same price point as the older VHF product. The ProStar
UHF unit offers power and quality beyond any other system in its price range. The new VHF
system is even more cost effective."
Responding to client demand, Telex has designed both units in a rugged, half rack space, plastic
case. A new rack tray is available that accommodates two units, thereby reducing the amount of
space taken up in the rack. The UHF unit is available in gray, while the VHF version is offered in
black. Both systems are offered in a lapel and a handheld version. The handheld versions offer the
choice of a condenser or a dynamic microphone. Both systems also come optimized for guitar
applications with specially tuned circuitry that enhances the frequency response and attack
characteristics of the guitar.
"The VHF spectrum is getting more and more crowded because of the number of different wireless
microphone systems sold out there," states Bosiacki. "There
is more available frequency spectrum up in the UHF range with a lot of room for expansion. We feel
that the ProStar UHF system is the wave of the future."
The UHF system occupies the 690 to 725 RF carrier frequency range with a frequency range of 50
to 15,000 Hz. Frequency stability measures .005 percent with an unweighted signal-to-noise ratio
of 91 dB with less than 0.5 percent third harmonic distortion. Ultimate quieting (ref. 12 kHz Dev.)
measures 97 dB.
The VHF system occupies the 174 to 186 RF carrier frequency range and offers a frequency
response of 50 to 15,000 Hz. Frequency stability measures at .005 percent with an unweighted
signal-to-noise ratio of 85 dB with less than 0.5 percent third harmonic distortion. Ultimate quieting
(ref. 12 KHz Dev.) measures 91 dB.
Both units come with a warranty that is three times longer than any other system at the same price
points. Systems are available in eight different stock frequencies and frequency coordination
assistance is always available from Telex.
