Drummers looking for a snare drum that balances the warmth of brass with the sharpness of steel will find the Yamaha copper snare drums perfect. "The copper drums speak very well at lighter dynamics and can be controlled dynamically," states Yamaha Drums product manager Steve Anzivino. "They don't distort at louder levels, making them perfect for orchestral use, as well as with drum sets."
Three models are available, each with a 14" diameter and either a 3 1/2", 5 1/2" and 6 1/2" depth. All models feature 2.3 mm steel triple flange rims, a 1.2 mm seamless copper shell, 20-strand hard, high-carbon steel snare wires and high-gloss clear lacquer finish. The 14" x 3 1/2" model uses 10 compact, one-piece lugs and compact release side strainer, while the 5 1/2" and 6 1/2" models use small-body lugs in a 10-lug design and extra smooth release-side strainer.
