PRESS RELEASE

Version 2.0 for Yamaha's DTX Drum Trigger Module Announced

July 11, 1997

Yamaha has introduced version 2.0 of the DTX module, the heart of its interactive electronic percussion system. It features many software improvements including: new drum sets, better sound balance, headphone only for click, simultaneous rim/pad triggering capability, independent gate time for each note in stack or alternate mode, and many more. The best news is that current DTX owners have the option to upgrade to version 2.0. For the upgrade procedure contact your local Yamaha dealer, or call (616) 940-4964.

Additional DTX products now available include a cymbal bell pad and a dual zone bar pad. The cymbal bell pad features a durable, quiet rubber surface and mounts on a cymbal tilter for realistic cymbal bell play and a mono cable is included. With two independently assignable rubber playing surfaces, the bar pad features a compact, tubular design and connects with a stereo cable, which is included. Suggested retail price is $80 for the bell pad and $140 for the bar pad.

For those with the original version of DTX, or version 2.0, Yamaha is offering a DTX video manual. It is contained on two 90-minute tapes, and includes step-by-step instructions on basic DTX functions, advanced programming techniques, as well as performances and explanations by Yamaha artists Russ Miller, Trevor Thornton, and Tony Verderosa. Yamaha Drums product manager Steve Anzivino who coordinated the project had this to say, "We made this video to help players not only understand the basics of DTX, but to allow them to unlock the vast musical potential of the system."

To order the video set, send a $15 money order to: DTX Video Manual, Yamaha Corporation of America, P.O. Box 899, Grand Rapids, MI 49512-0899.
