Yamaha Offers Vintage Wood Hoop as Options for All Drums
July 10, 1998Yamaha Drums announces that the Vintage Wood drum hoops will be made available and sold individually to retrofit all Yamaha drums and drums of other manufacture. These same wood hoops are those used on the Yamaha signature snare of Late Show with David Letterman drummer Anton Fig, and feature a nineteen-ply maple construction.
"The Vintage Wood hoops create a warmer tonal characteristic as compared to metal hoops, and offers the creative drummer the ability to play on the hoop itself," states David Jewell, product manager, Drum Department, Yamaha Pro Audio & Combo Division. "The Vintage Wood hoops sound amazing and are so popular that we decided to sell them as separate items so that those who prefer them can now get the hoops they want, no matter what type of drum they use."
The hoops will be available in 8-, 10-, 12-, 13-, 14- and 16-inch sizes. Pricing will range according to size; for example, a 14-inch 10-lug hoop will have a suggested retail price of $80.
