Behringer Introduces Ultra-Dyne Pro Stereo
Dynamic Processor July 26, 1999The new Ultra-Dyne Pro is a versatile, high
performance digital 6-band stereo compressor-gate-expander with a separate
peak limiter section.
The Ultra-Dyne Pro combines two 24-bit signal processing engines with
high-quality crystal 24-bit A/D and D/A converters to ensure exceptional
audio quality. The unit delivers virtually inaudible compressors, highly
precise gates, smooth expanders and a powerful multi-band exciter, all
in a compact rack-mount package. The unit's special 6-band algorithms
eliminate undesirable effects such as "pumping" and intermodulation
distortion. The multi-band exciter function generates harmonics, determining
the ratio of odd to even harmonics to smooth out vocal tracks or add dynamic
punch to a kick drum.
Output levels and signal density can be optimized automatically via the unit's
Ultramizer function to dramatically increase the subjective loudness of the
signal. Two parameters set the desired compression and maximization. The unit
then automatically determines all of the remaining control parameters based
on the program material.
The Ultra-Dyne's Virtuoso feature enables compression settings to be
automatically determined based on the program material. Half a megabyte of delay
permits the delay of individual frequency bands by to 300 msec, allowing the
unit's algorithms to anticipate what comes next for more efficient processing.
Tube simulation with the selection of different tube types is also available.
Other features include: extensive MIDI implementation; a large, high-res back-lit
LCD display; automatic hard-bypass relay for protection during power failures;
an optional AES/EBU interface for digital Ins and Outs, and servo-balanced XLR
and 1/4" connectors.
Suggested retail list price for the Ultra-Dyne Pro is $699. For more information, visit Behringer at www.beringer.de. |
