DigiTech RP-14D Guitar Processor
July 23, 1999
DigiTech's new RP-14D, which expands on the
design of the popular RP-7 Valve, is the latest addition to the company's RP
Series of floor-based guitar preamp and multi-effects processors.
Thanks to a real 12AX7 tube, the RP-14D is able to simulate eight of the world's
most popular guitar amplifier sounds, including British Stack, Rectified, Boutique,
Twin, Class A Clean, Fuzz, High Gain and Acoustic Simulation. Three bands of
EQ provide complete tonal flexibility before the signal is delivered to the
digital processing section. Furthermore, EQ points for each amp simulation are
set up to accurately match those of their respective models for the most realistic
emulation at every setting.
The integrity of the analog preamp is retained thanks to the ultra-quiet 24-bit
A/D and D/A converters. DigiTech's award-winning digital S-DISC II processor
includes every effect than any guitarist could ask for, and is complemented
by a 44.1 kHz sampling rate. In addition to traditional 1/4-inch outputs, the
RP-14D offers a S/PDIF digital output for use with hard disk recording workstations
and other digital setups.
The RP-14D's simple user interface makes programming a snap, and selecting
programs or bypassing individual effects on the fly is accomplished via the
processor's 12 footswitches. An expression pedal is capable of controlling any
one of the nine available parameter links, and the pre-distortion analog wah
may be engaged to override any of these links at any time through a switch under
the toe of the pedal.
Additional important features include intelligent pitch shifting, a chromatic
tuner, DigiTech's Learn-a-Lick phrase recorder and Jam-Along Jack for patching
in a CD or cassette player, and 50 user/50 factory presets.
The suggested U.S. retail price on the DigiTech RP-14D is $549.95.
