Emagic, the award winning European based software and hardware developer,
is proud to announce the successor to the Unitor8: the Unitor8 MkII.
The Unitor8 MKII is a 19", single rack-space, synchronizer and midi
interface for Mac or Windows OS. Each unit has 8 MIDI inputs and 8 independently
addressable MIDI outputs. In addition, it can read and write SMPTE as
LTC and VITC. The Unitor8 can also easily read LTC from 1/4 to 4x normal
speed. With VITC synchronization, Logic will support freeze-frame and
reverse playback. In contrast to the earlier model, the Unitor8 MkII can
now be connected via a USB port. The existing connections via RS-232 and
RS-422 remain unchanged but the Mac Thru connector has been eliminated
to make room for the addition of a USB connection. Unitor8 MkII is fully
compatible with Emagic's Unitor8 and AMT8 interfaces; up to 8 units can
be stacked to control complex MIDI studios.
The Unitor8 MkII offers all the features familiar from its successful
predecessor: outstanding reliability, extremely short lock times for LTC
and VITC in all formats, Active MIDI Transmission technology, video picture
timecode burn-in, a click/footswitch input, stand-alone patch bay functions
and many other options.
Logic Audio Version 4.0.1 is required in order to use Unitor8 MkII with
the USB connection included with the latest Macintosh computers. The 4.0.1
update CD for current Logic Audio 4.0 users is included. Unitor8 MkII
also ships with the Unitor8 Control editing software.
Availability and Pricing
The Unitor8 MKII will ship at the end July of 1999 and carries an MSRP
of $799US.
