Korg Announces the DT-7 Guitar/Bass Chromatic

Korg announces the introduction of the new DT-7 guitar/bass chromatic
tuner. In addition to supporting conventional chromatic tuning, Korg's
DT-7 is the world's first dedicated guitar/bass tuner to support the Buzz
Feiten Tuning System™. Guitars employing this unique tuning method
(similar to "stretch tuning" on an acoustic piano) sound as
though the overtone structure has been changed. The result is a fuller
sound and a guitar that is more in tune over the entire fingerboard, as
well as in tune with other instruments in the band.
When a conventional tuner is used to tune a guitar with Buzz Feiten tuning,
specific offsets must be added so that each string is tuned a few cents
sharp or flat. However, the DT-7 allows for easy tuning by performing
the same procedure as for normal tuning. In addition, as Buzz Feiten explains,
"Our claim to fame with this tuner is that it is 300% more accurate
than the next closest competitor."
Two types of tuning modes are available on the DT-7: chromatic or Buzz
Feiten (which supports acoustic and electric guitar, as well as bass).
A wide tuning range that extends from A0 (27.50 Hz) to B7 (3,951.07 Hz)
allows a variety of instruments, including five and six-string basses,
to be tuned. Featuring a compact design with angled front panel for easy
viewing when placed on top of an amp, the DT-7 also has a large LED-style
meter and seven-segment note display for optimal visibility on dark stages
or low-light situations. The DT-7 also features a Sound Out mode which
sends a reference tone to an external amplifier, allowing all members
of the band to hear and tune to the same reference tone. A buffer amp
between the INPUT jack and BYPASS jack eliminates the tone-sapping "loading
effect" normally encountered when hooking up through tuners.
Other features include a built-in mic for use with acoustic guitars,
and adjustable calibration allowing different standard pitches to be used
for accurately tuning to different instruments. The DT-7 is powered by
a AAA battery.
