Yamaha Launches DG60-112 Digital Guitar
Amp
July 23, 1999After earning raves from players and critics alike for the tone, feel
and flexibility of its first series of digital guitar amps, the DG80-112
and the DG100-212, Yamaha Corporation of America, Pro Audio & Combo
Division, Guitars, unveils the DG60-112. This latest addition to the flock
makes top-flight tone more affordable than ever before and opens up the
power of digital modeling to working musicians, students, studio rats
and beyond.
"This simple, digital guitar amp is perfect for budget-minded guitarists
who want to achieve the same killer tone as our DG80 without the bells
and whistles at an affordable price," states Gary Cook, product manager,
Guitars.
Versatility is the name of the game with the DG60-112-you'd need a vanload
of conventional amps to even come close to the sonic flexibility of this
ultra-portable, capable combo. The DG60-112 is equipped with two independent
channels, and each offers a choice between eight amp models designed to
dish out the full spectrum of classic and cutting-edge tones needed by
today's pro player. The models are created with the same acclaimed ECM
(Electronic Circuit Modeling) technology found in the earlier DG amps,
which are noted for their tube-like tone and realistic feel.
The DG60-112 packs it in when it comes to sonic horsepower. The combo
puts out 60 watts into a single 12-in. Eminence speaker that has the powerful,
punchy sound and versatility needed to bring the DG60-112's wide range
of killer tones to life, both on stage and in the studio.
Other key features include Yamaha's specially designed digital "Spring
Reverb," which gives the DG60-112 a sparkle of authentic vintage
flavor; Speaker Simulation, which can be activated separately for each
channel (ideal for direct recording); and an Effects Send and Return with
a Blend knob, which lets users add external effects without disrupting
the DG60-112's core tone. This is a feature normally reserved for amps
costing much, much more. There is also a headphone jack designed for silent
late-night practicing.
Combo Group marketing manager, David Bergstrom, notes, "The DG60
will make Yamaha digital-amplifier technology available to a wider segment
of the guitar-playing market. You can trust the technology from Yamaha." For more information,
