Yamaha Announces New DW Series Acoustic Guitar

July 23, 1999

Nothing can compare to the power, clarity and projection of a full-sized dreadnought guitar. The latest entry into Yamaha Corporation of America, Pro Audio & Combo Division, Guitars' acclaimed DW series, the DWX8C, offers the classic tone, presence and playability that Yamaha is known for. In a package designed to make both performing and recording easier and more rewarding, the DWX8C is ideal for the aspiring star and seasoned pro alike. Key features include a cutaway for improved upper-fret access; an in-bridge piezo pickup; and Yamaha's own custom-designed preamp, which features a three-band EQ with an adjustable mid-frequency control. Users are sure to appreciate the instrument's stunningly realistic acoustic sound when amplified.

"The neck shaping was designed to make these DW guitars a dream to play," enthuses Guitar, product manager, Gary Cook. "The bracing patterns have been re-designed to maximize the dreadnought body style. Once again, Yamaha delivers a lot of guitar for the pro."

Like the rest of the DW series, the DWX8C features a solid sitka spruce top, Nato back and sides and a sleek Nato neck capped off with a Rosewood fretboard. Clearly, the DWX8C is designed to look as good as it plays. It is available in three great finishes, including natural, gloss black and oriental blue burst, and comes with such elegant appointments as body and headstock binding, a tortoiseshell-look pickguard and gold hardware.

In keeping with Yamaha tradition, pro-quality looks and sound come at a price any serious player can handle. "Professional players have been waiting for a guitar of this quality, with built-in capability for the studio or stage," says David Bergstrom, marketing manager, Yamaha Corporation of America. "It's a true professional instrument-at an affordable price."
