Akai Musical Instrument Corporation will unveil their new
DPS12i - Digital Personal Studio at the Winter NAMM Expo 2000 in booth #4373.
The new DPS12i is truly a complete digital studio - combining a powerful 12-track
random-access, professional quality digital disk recorder and digital mixer in
one. The DPS12i eliminates the need for complex product interfacing, while keeping
data in the digital domain.
The DPS12i features the ability to utilize low cost internal IDE
drives - maximizing storage efficiency while providing a SCSI port for external
SCSI devices. The Akai DPS12i offers an unprecedented dollar-per-track value at
a suggested retail price of $1,649 including a 10GB internal IDE hard drive allowing
over 32 hours of record time.
The Akai DPS12i offers the added flexibility of creating Audio CDs and archive
disks using CD-R/CD-RW drives.
A Timestretch function is also included, allowing phase coherent processing
of stereo recordings. Incorporating Akais latest timestretch technology,
this function offers a choice of 54 preset algorithms, providing and unprecedented
variety of timestretch options.The DPS12is MIDI System exclusive implementation
allows external control of user functions such as transport controls and mixer
settings. The MESA (Modular Editing System from Akai) has been upgraded to provide
additional support of the DPS12i from a PC. Graphic waveform editing features
include Cut, Copy, Move, Insert and Erase.
Options include the high performance EB2M Multi-Effects Processor featuring
powerful reverb functions with optimized algorithms. Akai also offers a CDR package
for mastering and archiving.
The new Akai DPS12i will be available in March 2000.
