PRESS RELEASE

Guild Introduces Blues 90 Guitar

February 3, 2000

One of Guild’s oldest and most storied electric guitar families will welcome a new addition this January with the introduction of the Blues 90. Designed to offer guitarists elegance and a wide variety of possible tones, this offspring of Guild’s Bluesbird family is just as playable, alluring and as downright hip as its siblings.

The secret to the new Blues 90, and the origin of its name, can be found in its pickups. Unlike the Standard and AAA Bluesbirds with their Seymour Duncan“ humbuckers, the Blues 90 offers up the classic tone and feel of its dual Seymour Duncan, cream colored P-90s. A range response of fat low ends, a raucous and bluesy middle, crisp highs, and the signature crunch of P-90 power, are all characteristics of Guild’s latest offering.

The solid mahogany body of the Blues 90 features carefully engineered sound chambers. These chambers actually harness sound from the guitar to help the mahogany body and carved flame maple top vibrate better, giving an enhanced resonance and sustain that you can’t find with most "plank" solid-body electrics.

Like the body, the neck of the Blues 90 is mahogany and has an unbound rosewood fretboard. But unlike the Standard and AAA Bluesbirds, the Blues 90 has simple "dot" inlays as opposed to "blocks".

The Blues 90’s tail piece is a stop bar with a Guild Adjust-O-Matic bridge. All hardware is chrome, including the Guild die cast tuners. Finish options for the dazzling, carved flame maple top are Emerald Green Transparent, Black Cherry or Ebony Transparent. Production of the Blues 90 begins in January, 2000, and the MSRP is $1,799.99.
