Pawar Guitars made their west coast debut at the
February NAMM Show in Los Angeles. "We are tooled up and have shipped
our first guitars," says Pawar President Jeff Johnston. A new company
on the landscape of American electric guitar manufacturers, Pawar (rhymes
with guitar) Guitars is the maker of the Turn of the Century guitar. The
Turn of the Century is available in three models: the Player, the Stage,
and the Prestige. All three models feature the Pawar Positive Tone System,
the system that offers "all of your favorite tones in one guitar."
The Pawar Positive Tone System is the result of over four years of research
and development by Johnston and Pawar Vice President of R&D Jay Pawar.
The system features 20 examples of classic humbucking and single coil
tones, all available with just the flip of a switch. "Jay and I grew
up playing vintage American guitars and fell in love with their classic
signature tones," says Johnston. "We have always wanted a guitar
with examples of classic humbucking and single coil tones. Whether you
are looking for the ping, clank, or quack of single coil pickups, or the
silky, smooth, warmth of humbuckers, you will find it on the Turn of the
Century."
Luthier Jay Pawar has been building guitars by hand for 20 years. The
Turn of the Century represents the first guitar that Jay has tooled up
to manufacture, but the guitar is still very much hand made. "I still
carve each of the scrolls by hand," says Pawar, "as it is the
only way to get the results we1re looking for."
The Turn of the Century is so named as a tribute to all of the great
luthiers of the twentieth century. "Jeff and I have studied guitars
for our entire careers, and we have put what we feel are the best design
elements of the twentieth century into this guitar, along with some innovations
of our own," says Pawar.
Coming soon to a pro guitar shop near you, the MSRP of the Turn of the
Century Player (pictured above in Sterling Silver) is $2,500.
