PRESS RELEASE

Roland Develops New Interfaces For V-Mixers and V-Studio Workstations

ADA 7000
February 4, 2000

Roland is proud to announce the release of two new audio interfaces for its R-BUS-equipped products. The ADA-7000 is an 8-channel 24-bit AD/DA Converter, while the AE-7000 is an 8-channel 24-bit AES/EBU Interface. Both of these interfaces use R-BUS—Roland’s proprietary audio interface capable of busing eight channels of up to 24-bit digital audio—to link to other "R-BUS-Ready" products such as Roland’s VM-7000-Series and VM-3100Pro V-Mixers, or the new VSR-880 Digital Studio Recorder.

With the ADA-7000, users can expand their digital mixers/recorders with an additional eight channels of analog I/O. The AE-7000, on the other hand, can be used to connect digital devices conforming to AES/EBU standards, such as ProTools™. These new rackmount interfaces give R-BUS users both increased flexibility and compatibility, and allow users to tailor Roland mixing products to their specific needs.

For those who need additional analog I/O, the ADA-7000 provides eight channels of both balanced XLR (with phantom power) and 1/4-inch phone jacks in a 2-space rackmount design. It supports mic- and line-levels, using 24-bit converters to ensure the highest sound quality. This is particularly useful with Roland’s newest 24-bit recording mode, found on the VSR-880 Digital Studio Recorder. Owners of these V-Studios can instantly expand their analog I/O by connecting the ADA-7000 to the R-BUS port. As an even more impressive example, a V-Mixing System could be expanded to an astounding 88 analog XLR inputs by connecting six ADA-7000’s to two cascaded and expanded VM-7200 V-Mixing Processors. Programmable gain using R-BUS control signals and Word Clock input are also supported.

The AE-7000 was created for professional users who want to use their R-BUS-equipped V-Mixer or V-Studio with high-end pro audio equipment conforming to 4-route (8-channel) AES/EBU standards. This single-space rackmount device has four digital inputs and four digital outputs in AES/EBU format, which can be converted to R-BUS—perfect for VM-7000-Series users working with ProTools systems. The AE-7000 also supports 24-bit I/O and World Clock.
