Roland is proud to announce the DB-700 D-Bass Amplifiera
larger, more powerful digitally controlled bass amp designed for large
venue and concert hall applications. Like its smaller sibling, the DB-500,
this amp uses Rolands Feed Forward Processing (FFP) amplifier technology
to make its 250-watt amplifier, 15-inch speaker, and horn tweeter sound
like a full stack of high-wattage amps weighing and costing significantly
more. The DB-700 also sports onboard COSM technology, giving it the ability
to digitally model a range of vintage and modern bass amp sounds.
While the DB-500 is the perfect bass amp for small clubs, the DB-700 can fill
stadium-sized stages with crystal-clear sound and big, full low-end using a specially
designed 15-inch speaker and high-efficiency horn tweeter. Although the built-in
amplifier is rated at 250 watts, Rolands FFP technology (see below) makes
it sound closer to 500 watts, as a side-by-side comparison with other manufacturers
amps will quickly attest.
COSM amp modeling enables DB-700 users to select from Solid State, Tube and
Tube Drive bass preamp models and COSM-modeled tube compression for getting just
the right tone. The tube-style compression gives the DB-700 a tight, punchy sound
even with pop and slap-style playing, while a Shape switch allows for tonal changes
in the high frequency range.
Other effects include a three-band EQ with a parametric mid, plus Rolands
renowned D-Chorus effect. This split-frequency, dynamics-sensitive chorus applies
the effect only to frequency ranges above the user-defined threshold. This keeps
the lows from becoming muddy as with conventional chorus effects, making D-Chorus
useful even when playing harmonics or slapping. Once users have dialed in to just
the right COSM amp model, EQ, compression and D-Chorus, the complete front panel
settings can be stored into onboard memories for instant recall via footswitch.
A very road-worthy bass amp, the DB-700s casters and side handles make
it easy to move around. A high-quality DI connector (XLR-type) is included for
direct connection to PA systems, while additional XLR and phone line outs are
perfect for recording. The DB-700 also includes a dedicated insert jack for routing
external effects through the amp, plus a headphone jack for private practice or
sound checks.
A New Roland Technology: Feed Forward Processing (FFP)
FFP technology allows the digitally controlled DB-700 to precisely predict
and adjust the response characteristics of amplifier and speaker output
before the bass signal reaches them. This ability to "sense"
incoming signals and adjust for them in advance greatly improves the DB-700's
efficiency, allowing it to produce a clear, responsive, and very powerful-sounding
output far beyond its conservative 250-watt rating.
