Korg announces the introduction of the TRINITY MUSIC WORKSTATION DRS (Digital Recording System) Series. Four keyboards based on Korg's popular music workstation concept that also offer the user a flexible system of modular options and upgrades that take the workstation standard to a new level of recording and performance capability.

All units are equipped with an 80,000 note, 16-track MIDI sequencer. An optional hard disk recording board also enables the 61 and 76-note instruments to record directly to an external hard drive at 48kHz and provides a S/P DIF I/O, four track playback, automated levels and panning, plus synchronization to their onboard MIDI sequencers. The weighted 88-key TRINITY ProX possesses the same features and includes an internal 543MB hard disk drive.

An ADAT-compatible optical digital interface and SCSI interface, all standard on the Trinity ProX and available as field retrofits on the other models, are also part of this new modular system.

Each member of the new series - the 61-key TRINITY, enhanced 61-key TRINITY Plus, 76-key TRINITY Pro and weighted 88-key TRINITY ProX - possesses a newly designed PCM-based tone generation system operating at 48kHz. It employs 24MB of PCM ROM yielding a total of 256 Programs and 256 Combinations created with 375 new Multisounds and 258 new drum samples. According to Jack Hotop, Korg USA's senior keyboard product manager, "The new tone generation system produces a high level of sound quality with extensive control that was previously unvailable in conventional PCM-based synthesizers."

A DSP-based Solo Synthesizer enhancement delivering the same Physical Modeling, Analog and Variable Phase Modulation sound technologies found in Korg's new PROPHECY Solo Synthesizer, is standard equipment on all models except the 61-key TRINITY. This Solo Synthesizer provides 64 additional programs and purchasers of the basic 61-key instrument can upgrade their units.

Flash ROM, a sample playback option, lets the user quickly acquire samples from the Korg and Akai Sound Libraries. It also provides two additional sound banks which double the number of programs and combinations available, yielding a total of 512 programs and 512 combinations. With the Flash ROM upgrade, the number of Solo Synthesizer programs available is also doubled to 128.

The TRINITY Series is equipped with Korg's TouchViewTM Graphical User Interface incorporating a large high-resolution 320 x 240 dot LCD touch-screen display facilitating ease and speed of operation.

A Dynamic Ribbon Controller, 100 insert and 14 Master effect types with real-time control and the ability to use up to ten effects simultaneously are part of the new platform. All models also feature a built-in 3.5 inch HD disk drive and four polyphonic analog outputs.
