Cakewalk to Include 3D audio Capability January 16, 1997
Now musicians, producers, and audio engineers can apply QSound 3D audio effects right from within Cakewalk Pro Audio.
QSound Labs, the industry pioneer of 3D audio processing, and Cakewalk Music Software, leading providers of music and sound creation software, today announced a partnership to bring 3D sound to Windows desktop recording. QSound has announced their new Windows-based audio plug-in for Cakewalk Pro Audio and other applications that support ActiveX.
Cakewalk will also be the exclusive distributor of Qsound's QTools/AX line of audio processing products for the Microsoft ActiveX(TM) standard.
"This partnership allows us to bring QSound's pro audio technology to a broader range of customers. With the integration of QSound into Cakewalk Pro Audio 6.0, users can add the dramatic effect of 3D sound. With a little imagination and Cakewalk, you could produce the next Dark Side of the Moon right on your own PC, " said Tom Cook, president of Cakewalk Music Software.
"This alliance provides an excellent example of two companies combining their respective areas of expertise to develop long-term business opportunities," said David Gallagher, president of QSound Labs.
QTools/AX Effects Highlights:
- QSYS/AX mono-to-wide 3D localizer. QSYS/AX allows users to spatially place mono sound files anywhere along a 180-degree arc in front of the listener. It also features 128-step azimuth placement resolution for expanded stereo placement.
- QXpander/AX stereo-to-3D soundfield expansion. QXpander/AX processes users existing stereo images, creating a dramatically widened, 3D-like soundfield. A 0 to -20dB center control maintains channel common audio and allows adjustment of balance between center and wide-panned mix elements.
- Q123/AX mono-to-stereo expander. Transforms mono sound files using QSounds advanced audio processing into expanded stereo sound files.
