January 16, 1997

Fender Musical Instruments is pleased to announce some new additions to its wallet-friendly Squier lineup. "Known as the Vista Series, these instruments are the perfect combination of affordability and design," noted Joe Carducci, Fender's marketing manager for imported electric guitars. The new arrivals are the Super-Sonic(TM), Jagmaster(TM), Venus(TM), Venus XII(TM) and Musicmaster(TM) Bass.

Classic contours on a basswood body with optional sparkle finishes, a three-ply, white-black-white pickguard, plus a maple neck with reversed headstock and rosewood fretboard characterize the Super-Sonic. Electronics include two screaming humbucking pickups, a three-position toggle switch and two volume controls. Hardware consists of a Vintage-style tremolo bar with hardened steel saddles and traditional machine heads.

Combine a Jaguar with a Jazzmaster, throw in a couple of humbucking pickups, a Vintage tremolo bar and a simple tone circuit and you get a Jagmaster. The guitar has a basswood body, a maple neck, a tortoise-shell pickguard and a 22-fret rosewood fretboard.

The Venus has a basswood body and a white shell pickguard. Its maple neck features a matching painted headstock and 22-fret rosewood fingerboard. Electronics include a humbucking bridge pickup and a single-coil neck pickup with staggered Alnico pole pieces for extra tone and power. Hardware consists of an adjustable string-through-body bridge and traditional machine heads.

The Venus XII is a Venus times two -- a 12-string powerhouse that features specially designed Seymour Duncan split single-coil pickups and an adjustable 12-string bridge.

The Musicmaster Bass is an improved and updated replica of the 60s classic short-scale bass. The guitar's body is made of alder and its maple neck features a matching painted headstock and an 1 8-fret rosewood fingerboard. Electronics include a specially designed "Vista Tone" single-coil pickup, master volume control and master tone control. Hardware consists of a four-saddle, string-through-body bridge and traditional machine heads. Gig bags are included with all Vista Series guitars.
