Matchless Thunder Series Bass Amplifiers
January 16, 1997
Matchless has been showing off it's new additions to the thunder series bass amps, the Thunderman and Thunderchief.
The Thunderman is packed full of 45 watts of class A tone and power. It will be offered in two combo amp configurations - a 1x15 and 2x10 (and the former weighs in at 85 lbs.). Despite the 'combo' label, it actually consists of a head (the cage that holds the tubes and circuitry) and a cabinet. The system is designed so that the head can be stored within the cabinet so transporting the amp is a little easier. For use, the head can be secured into place. Controls include volume, bass, treble, compression, and sensitivity.
The Thunderchief is 200 watts of pure tube power crammed into a head (10.5" x 25" x 12", 75 lbs.). The four KY88 tubes in the power section will really pump out the sound. This single-channel head also has a switch for lowering its frequency response. In addition to the bass, mid, treble, and brilliance controls, you will find an effects loop and a high/low power switch. |
