PRESS RELEASE

Parker Introduces New Fly Standards

January 16, 1997

Parker Guitars has announced the introduction of two new models to the Fly Guitar® line of instruments. The instruments, known as Fly Standard® guitars, feature a vibrato and non-vibrato version.

These solid body guitars are crafted from one-piece poplar tonewoods chosen for their great response and sustain, and are extremely light in weight (about five pounds!). The vibrato bridge is manufactured of premium steel and high strength aluminum resulting in a lightweight, ultra-responsive system. The guitarist can select between three modes of vibrato -- free-floating, bend-down-only, or fixed mode. Both instruments come equipped with DiMarzio® magnetic humbucking pickups, spring-tempered, stainless-steel frets, Locking Sperzel® tuning machines and a hand-rubbed high gloss finish. In addition, both Fly Standard guitars feature controls for master volume, magnetic tone and magnetic volume. A three-position humbucker selector gives the option of neck, bridge or neck/bridge inside coils for that "in-between" sound.

The Parker Fly Standards will be available in a wide range of colors, including: Antique Gold, Italian Plum, Pearl White, Euro Red, Majik Blue, Black, Galaxie Gray, Emerald Green, Dusty Black, and Ruby Red.

The Fly Standard with vibrato lists for $2250.00, as does the Fly Standard with a non-vibrato fixed bridge, and prices include a Levy® gig bag. Both instruments are available immediately.

Parker Guitars is a Massachusetts-based company founded by luthier Ken Parker and electronics designer Larry Fishman. The Parker Fly Guitar, which has earned a half-dozen U.S. design, technology and manufacturing patents, represents a radical departure from traditional electric guitar designs. At about 5 pounds, the Parker Fly incorporates numerous new design elements such as a thin yet richly resonant woodbody made from either poplar, mahogany or spruce wood and a basswood neck encased in a revolutionary exoskeleton of carbon and glass fiber. An equally revolutionary electronics package designed to deliver the rich, lush sound of the instrument was developed by Ken Parker's partner Larry Fishman. The combination is the first major departure in electric guitar design since the Fender Stratocaster® was introduced in 1954. Parker Guitars are exclusively distributed by Korg USA based in Melville, New York.
