(2x) 1029A monitors , 1091A subwoofer
January 29, 1998

Genelec, the world's acknowledged leader in active monitoring systems, is exhibiting the Genelec 1029A two-way, bi-amplified active monitoring system at this year's Winter NAMM Show. This system is complemented with the Genelec 1091A matching subwoofer. The complete system, including a pair of Genelec 1029A powered speakers and the Genelec 1091A matching subwoofer, retails in the U.S. for less than $1,800. For the first time, award-winning Genelec quality and sonic accuracy is available at a new affordable price point.

The Genelec 1029A monitoring system is a compact close-field system featuring a high degree of accuracy and exceptionally wide dynamic range, incorporating Genelec's proprietary Directivity Control Waveguide Technology (DCW), the same as is found on Genelec's other highly successful monitoring systems, such as the legendary Genelec 1030 series of active monitors. Powered by a pair of precisely crafted 40-watt amplifiers, the Genelec 1029A monitors offer users a wide frequency response of 68 Hz - 20 kHz (+/-2.5 dB) from a five-inch woofer and 3/4" hard-domed tweeter. In addition to extremely low harmonic distortion, the 1029A features a front-mounted volume control, and rear panel bass & treble tilt room response controls. The Genelec 1029A active monitors also incorporate a completely new housing design, contained within a compact (10 X 6 X 7.125-inches) diecast aluminum enclosure which offers users rugged construction for travel while also providing massive heat dissipation capability and excellent shielding against RF interference. Each speaker is also EM shielded for additional protection when used in close proximity to video

The Genelec 1091A subwoofer is expressly designed for use in conjunction with the Genelec 1029A monitors. Featuring a single eight-inch driver enclosed in a dual-vented MDF cabinet, the 1091A is connected in series with the 1029A via connectors on the 1029A cabinets. Input level to the 1091A is driven via the gain controls on the 1029A monitors. Since the 1091A is specifically designed to work perfectly with the 1029A monitors, no further adjustments are required. However, should the user desire, bass rolloff is adjustable via DIP switches on the 1091A's 70-watt amplifier module. The complete Genelec 1029A/1091A close-field monitoring system has an extended low-frequency response down to 40 Hz.

The Genelec 1029A/1091A active monitoring system further extends what has come to be the world's leading and most comprehensive range of active, powered monitors. Active monitoring has been embraced by all market segments in the professional audio industry. With the introduction of the affordably priced Genelec 1029A/1091A monitoring system, entire new economic market segments -- including project studios, broadcast/multimedia post production, music workstations, and high-quality home and commercial audio installations -- can now take advantage of Genelec sound quality.

Genelec, the pioneer in Active Monitoring technology, was founded in 1978 and has concentrated its efforts and resources into the design and manufacturing of active monitoring loudspeakers with unparalleled sonic accuracy. Genelec has been credited with promoting the concept of active monitors, a trend in technology that some manufactures are just now incorporating into their products. Genelec has a complete line of active main, mid-field, and near-field monitors for application in the post-production, project studio, broadcast, TV and CD mastering markets.
