New Harmonica Holder from Hohner January 29, 1998A new harp holder (HH-01), especially designed for the 10 hole diatonic harmonica, is being introduced by Hohner, Inc. at the NAMM '98 show. One of the main features of this harp holder is its ability to be fitted to any given player's body size. In addition to backward and forward adjustment by means of the wing nuts, the neck harness material of the new holder can be bent up or down to correctly position the harmonica at the mouth of the player. Also, the new neck holder, which has a list price of $9.95 (B), has double wing nuts with lock washers to reduce slipping when players lean into the harmonica.
Hohner will continue to sell its Model 154 neck holder which was designed for players who also use larger harmonicas such as Hohner's 14-hole Marine Band harmonica or the larger Echo models.
The harp holder was designed by Rick Epping, Hohner Harmonica Product Manager. Epping, who performed at the 1997 World Harmonica Festival in Trossingen, Germany, uses a harmonica holder when playing the concertina, mandolin and other stringed instruments. "Since I'm so tall, most holders are too short for me. This new holder can be adjusted for any length neck. While most harmonica holders have forward and back adjustment on wing nuts, they do not address the need for upward and downward movement to fit the harmonica right to the player's mouth. So players often have to reach up to play, or bend down to play. Our new holder addresses that problem."
In addition to the new holder, Hohner also has introduced a blister packed mini harmonica #108 key chain. Retailing at $2.95, the mini harmonica is 1 3/8 inches long with four holes and plays a complete octave. For more information, visit their web site at www.hohnerusa.com. |
