Korg USA announces the introduction of the Korg iS40 and iS50 Interactive Music Workstations, the latest additions to Korg's fast-growing i-Series Music Workstations. The iS40 and iS50 offer new, powerful and creative ways to compose and perform music at very affordable prices.

Both keyboards share the heritage of Korg's critically-acclaimed AI2 Synthesis System for extraordinary voicing realism. Each instrument is loaded with 320 factory sound programs (including a full GM soundset) plus 64 more programs in RAM memory, along with an EDIT PROGRAM function for easy control of parameters such as Filter Cutoff, Attack Time, Effects, Vibrato Intensity and more right from the front panel. The iS40 and iS50 also feature a total of 16 drum kits on each instrument, with two of the kits fully editable. In addition, the iS40 includes an extra 2 MBs of dedicated stereo piano PCM for an extremely rich and realistic piano sound. The iS40 and iS50 both allow a high degree of expression control in live performance, and feature velocity control of the keyboard, an integrated pitch bend/modulation controller, and sustain/control pedal inputs. The iS40 also boasts aftertouch sensitivity plus an additional assignable pedal input.

The accompaniment system of Korg's i-Series instruments has become well known for the most advanced harmonic recognition and exceptional musicality, and the new iS40 and iS50 are no exceptions. The 128 ROM and 16 User styles of both workstations have been completely revoiced to offer the best of all musical genres. The 128 ROM and 64 User Arrangements take backing tracks and orchestrate them with the best mix of onboard sounds and add additional expression from the two multi-effects processors (each with 47 types of effects). And now composing is easier than ever with the iS40 and iS50's 40,000-event Backing Sequencer, which takes advantage of the extensive onboard accompaniment features to quickly lay down chords and melodic ideas, with full editing capabilities. With their built-in disk drives, both keyboards allow load in of Standard MIDI Files for playing or editing. The new JukeBox function lets the user choose the order that songs play from a disk for even more control over set lists. The iS40 adds 15 Keyboard Sets which remember all front panel settings for instant recall. It also has a direct PC interface, a data entry dial and audio inputs for singing or playing CDs through the onboard speakers. Both keyboards offer a newly-designed, integrated, high-fidelity sound system. The iS50 offers a powerful 2 x 8 Watt amplifier and two dual cone speakers housed in a bass reflex box for stunning low frequency response. The iS40 is equipped with a powerful 2 x 14 Watt amplifier and a four speaker system, also housed in a bass reflex box for additional low end response. Finally, both keyboards' operating systems can be upgraded quickly and directly from floppy disk so that they can immediately take advantage of new features and enhancements from Korg as they are developed.

The new Korg iS40 and iS50 Music Keyboard Workstations extend the capabilities of the Korg Interactive Series of workstations while also delivering on Korg's long standing tradition of quality sound, intuitive user interfacing and full-featured functionality at an affordable price.

The Korg iS40 has a suggested list price of $1695.00 The Korg iS50 has a suggested list price of $1450.00 Both instruments will be available in March 1998.
