Paul Reed Smith Announces McCarty(R) Hollowbody/Hollowbody II
January 29, 1998
"Ted McCarty believes that the greatest of his many achievements in the guitar industry was the introduction of the thin hollowbody Electric Spanish guitars in the 1950's. It was revolutionary in its time and an instant hit. In Ted's tradition of innovation and quality, our McCarty Hollowbody takes his original idea and modifies it in several ways. The guitar sounds more acoustic, the outline of the body is smaller, the instrument is more of a hollowbody with oversize F-holes and has less of a tendency to feedback. We have modified the pickups to work in both vintage and modern arenas. We use solid woods throughout--no plywood. The bridge is anchored in a sound post, not a long block, allowing the guitar to generate lots of tone and volume. I cannot think of a kind of music you would not be able to play on this instrument."
